Squirrel Hill Health Center (SHHC), a dynamic and growing Federally Qualified Health Center in Pittsburgh, PA, is seeking a full time Peer Support Specialist. The Peer Support Specialist (PSS) will work with the SHHC Behavioral Health and Clinical teams to provide behavioral health services that foster supportive peer relationships with and among the persons receiving primary care and integrated behavioral health services at SHHC. The PSS by definition is a person who has experienced mental illness, and who will utilize her or his personal experience to instill a sense of hope and optimism for SHHC patients. If fluent in a language other than English, the PSS may be called upon to interpret in appointments with patients of the same background, or to lead groups from specific communities in order to help SHHC provide culturally competent care to all.
The Peer Support Specialist is a key member of the care team working to provide quality comprehensive services to patients and will work collaboratively with staff to provide team-based coordinated care. The Peer Support Specialist will demonstrate the values consistent with Squirrel Hill Health Center’s mission and will work with the SHHC team to make the Center a Medical Home for patients of all backgrounds.
